Radiac Abrasives, a leading manufacturer of conventional bonded and super abrasive grinding wheels is looking for a 3rd shift Quality Inspector based in our plant in Salem, IL.  For more than 100 years, Radiac has delivered industry leading technology and quality products and service to the metal finishing industry. Radiac is a TYROLIT Company that is owned by the Swarovski Group which is headquartered in Schwaz, Austria.

Annual Salary Range for this position is $42,640.00 to $59,280.00.

Basic Function:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for final inspection of product by verifying dimensions to a blueprint.  The inspector will ensure that the product is made to print and meets customer specifications. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure quality specifications are met for all product produced as compared to the blueprint.
  2. Measure product with various measuring instruments.
  3. Visually inspect the product for any defects or missing operations.
  4. Perform incoming inspection on vendor cores per instructions.
  5. Compile and maintain daily records.
  6. Resolve problems with instruments, test methods, lab chemicals, standards and samples
  7. Report non-conforming and scrap products in the production area.
  8. Train other operators as needed.
  9. All other duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Skills:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  2. Ability to use various measuring instruments proficiently.
  3. Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
  4. Strong understanding of inspection techniques and manufacturing.

 

Experience and Education:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Minimum of 2 years dimensional quality experience.
  3. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical data, drawings and charts.
  4. Experience using a micrometer, caliper and other measuring devices.

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  1. 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  2. Ability to use hands, stand, and or walk 75% of the workday.
  3. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds occasionally.
  4. Ability to work in shop environment.
