Position Title:              Maintenance Person I                                                                                                          Exemption Status:      Non-Exempt                                                                                                                            Reports to:                  Maintenance Supervisor                                                                                                        Starting Pay Rate:      $26.24/hour 

Basic Function: Maintains facility, systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.

Responsibilities:

  1. Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  2. Inspect and/or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  3. Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  4. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  5. Diagnose electrical problems.
  6. Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, jacks, or hoists.
  7. Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
  8. Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  9. Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  10. Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions.
  11. Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality.
  12. Maintain organized and clean work area.
  13. Communicate all problems and other work related issues with Supervisor or Lead.
  14. Receive, understand, and follow all written and oral instruction.                                       
  15. Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.
  16. Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.

Skills:

  1. Ability to communicate, read, and write in English.
  2. Ability to perform basic math.
  3. Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
  4. Ability to use various measuring instruments.
  5. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  6. Ability to read a blueprint.
  7. Ability to use electric meter.
  8. Ability to weld and fabricate.

Experience and Education:

  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  2. Minimum of 1 year experience in maintenance environment.
  3. Associate Degree or Vocational Degree – Maintenance preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to use hands constantly throughout the workday.
  2. Ability to stand and/or walk constantly throughout the workday.
  3. Ability to bend, stoop, or twist frequently throughout the work day.
  4. Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds frequently.
  5. Ability to climb ladders and stairs occasionally.
  6. Ability to see detail at close range - 20/20 vision required with or without correction constantly.
  7. Ability to work in confined spaces occasionally.
  8. Ability to work in manufacturing environment.
